The House

The Lighthouse was designed to take full advantage of its exceptional situation.

Cleverly arranged, the main living accommodation is on the first floor, comprising a large, airy living / dining space, a superb fitted kitchen and a cosy oak-panelled snug. These spaces lead seamlessly onto an extensive raised deck and balcony ensuring that the extraordinary views over the sea to the Torridon Mountains can be enjoyed at any time of day, no matter what the weather.

Four bedrooms downstairs provide flexible accommodation for up to seven guests and are served by three sumptuously fitted bathrooms. All bedrooms enjoy attractive views of the sea, mountains or garden.

With excellent amenities close at hand you really could park your car when you arrive and not need to drive again during your stay.

Behind the scenes

The Lighthouse was built and is owned by William and Camilla Gray Muir. William's mother's family have lived in Gairloch since 1494 and still own and manage the 53,000 acre Gairloch Estate. For over 20 years William has run Sundial Properties, an Edinburgh based company specialising in the restoration of historic buildings. He has an abiding passion for Scotland's buildings and heritage. After many years of happy holidays in the area, he jumped at the chance to buy a dilapidated 1970s house with one of the best locations in Gairloch. He and Camilla worked closely with Dualchas Architects to design and build an environmentally friendly house which took full advantage of the site, combining modern design and building techniques to allow the most comfortable appreciation of one of Europe's finest natural landscapes.
